The Mandalorian is set on the Star Wars Universe, using all the iconography and nostalgia of the original Star Wars Trilogy. The directors wanted to pay homage to the original movies, while using the latest technologies to create the sequences, mixing traditional plate photography, CG background extensions and full CG shots including digi-doubles and vehicles.

As with any of the Star Wars franchise, the expectations were really high in terms of quality of the work. We aimed to achieve the best visual result using the latest technologies available, whilst always grounding the work into the reality of the camera work and visual fidelity of cameras. We also wanted to use some of more traditional techniques used in the original Star Wars trilogy, favouring real plates and traditional in-camera special effects whenever possible.
